There was a time when Weezer wrote songs that were absent of sarcasm and kitsch. That time was the mid-90s. For a three-year period, Weezer was at the top of the emo-grunge pyramid with songs like “Undone (The Sweater Song)”, “Say It Ain’t So”, and “El Scorcho”. After their best album, Pinkerton, was a commercial flop, singer Rivers Cuomo went back to school and started writing witty pop-songs about drugs, islands, and being famous. While their time has unequivocally passed, we will always remember their greatness with songs like this one. Enjoy.
