These days, Mark Everett’s eels are probably best known for their additions to the Shrek franchise soundtrack. But when the band released their debut album back in 1996, they were quite a sensation. Beautiful Freak featured hit singles “Novocaine for the Soul”, “Rags to Rags”, and “Your Lucky Day in Hell”, all receiving a significant amount of airplay on alternative radio stations across the country. In my humble opinion, the best of the singles came in the form of “Susan’s House”, the half spoken-word jam about Everett’s walk to his girlfriend’s house. Revel in all its glory below.
